A preliminary report

The preliminary report of the "Census of Shahtoosh Workers in the Kashmir Valley" conducted by the Wildlife Trust of India in partnership with the International Fund for Animal Welfare has recommended generic branding for Kashmir’s pashmina to provide alternative livelihood options for the strife-torn valley’s beleaguered shahtoosh workers. The report was released at a seminar “New Life for Shahtoosh” organised as part of the Lakme India Fashion Week in August 2002.
